This building,
constructed on the site of the Faber property,
originally was the Benevolent and Protective Order of
Elks Lodge #212 and was dedicated in March 1928. In
June 1979, the Elks sold the building to the
Tyrone-Snyder Public Library.
In 1990, the second-floor
auditorium was completely renovated.
In March 2004, the contents of
the library were moved to the renovated first floor of
what remains of the former First National Bank Building
(Jones Building).
On April 1, 2004, the building
was sold to the Tyrone Community Players, which
uses the space as a focal point for the arts in the
community. The group plans to incorporate a small,
public presentation space suitable for cabaret-type
performances along with exhibit and gallery space,
rehearsal areas for TCP performances, and storage for
mountains of costumes, properties, and decor pieces.
The group also intends to make the building available
for public uses such as music and dance
lessons..
In August 2005, the TCP Board of Directors
renamed the building “The Building.”
