Through the years, the
southeast corner of Pennsylvania Ave. and 10th St.
housed drug stores, the first home of the Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, and the first home
of the First National Bank (1890–1906). Robert
Garman constructed this building in 1910 for his
jewelry business. During the 1936 flood, his workbench
and jewelry washed through the front
window.
In later years, the building
continued to be used as a store on the first floor,
with apartments on the second and third
floors.
