Fink Bros. Supply

16  FINK BROTHERS SUPPLY
961 Pennsylvania Ave.

This complex comprises the Pruner “Block” (on the left) and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Building.
The I.O.O.F. Building was constructed in 1888 for the Tyrone Lodge No. 152, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It is a brick, three-story building of Moorish and Gothic architecture, built at a cost of $9,000–10,000. It originally had two store rooms on the first floor, offices and a banquet room on the second floor, and an assembly hall on the third floor. At that time, the lodge room had no equal in Blair County, “being large and commodious.”
    E. J. Pruner constructed the building immediately to the left of the I.O.O.F. Building in 1889. The first floor had stores, the second had offices, and the third was the Pruner Social Hall, which held many social events. In 1900, the Tyrone High School began its commercial classes in this building.
Fink Hardware was established in 1923 by three Fink brothers: Telford N., J. Leslie, and Droze C. Fink. Other departments were added over the years. The 1936 flood almost destroyed the business, but the brothers started over again.
In 1970, C. Donald Fink, the son of Droze, purchased the business. When Don retired in 1993, his sons, Wayne L., Matthew, and Stacey A. Fink, took over the enterprise, now known as Fink Brothers Supply Inc.
