The Blair County Banking
Company was organized in 1874. After operating at
several locations, the new bank was built on the
present site in 1891. On October 8, 1931, it
consolidated with the First National
Bank.
In 1952, extensive remodeling
and expansion took place; the original top of the
building was removed, and the adjoining Ben Crampton
Barber Shop was purchased by the bank. The exterior and
interior of the building recently was refurbished.
Noteworthy is the beautiful ceiling and
lighting.
The building now houses the
Tyrone Branch of the M & T Bank.
