The Tyrone Area Historical Society is located in central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1990, the Society is committed to the stories of Tyrone, Snyder Township, Warriors Mark and Sinking Valley in Blair and Huntingdon counties. Our mission is to encourage the community to preserve and share the unique history of Tyrone and the surrounding communities.

The Tyrone History Museum features "Christmas Treasures of the Past" during Yuletime Tyrone. On exhibit are beloved family decorations that make the holidays special from generation to generation.



Museum hours, holiday season, 2017

  • Saturday, December 2, 10 AM - 2 PM
  • Sunday, December 3, 1 - 4 PM
  • Wednesday, December 6, 1 - 4 PM
  • Sunday, December 10, 1 - 4 PM

The Museum will be closed throughout the winter and will reopen Sunday, April 8, 2018.

2018 Hours at Museum and Office

  • The Office and Library are open year-round, Wednesday, 1 - 4 PM.
  • The Museum opens for the season on Sunday, April 8
    • The Museum is located at 850 Pennsylvania Avenue, in the Tyrone Rail Park and is open Sundays and Wednesdays from 1 to 4 PM from April through early December.
